چکیده

The peppers which were treated at ice-temperature for 6 hours and 1 mmol/L spermidine for 10 min, followed by cold storage (4 ̊C ± 1 ̊C) respectively were investigated. The results indicated that the chilling injury was delayed and reduced by ice-temperature and spermidine treatments. Comparing with control group, ice-temperature and spermidine exerted significant effects on reduction of ascorbic acid (Vc) and chlororphyll contents, relatively high activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), accumulation of malondialdehyde (MDA) as well as the increase of cell membrane penetrability. The results indicated that the spermidine and ice-temperature induced the activity of antioxidant enzyme SOD and maintained higher defence-related compound Vc as well as lower levels of membrane lipid peroxidation, which may be associated with chilling injury alleviation. There was a difference between ice-temperature treatment and spermidine treatment after 30 days. The results suggested that spermidine was more effective in reducing chilling sensitivity and prolonging storage of peppers.

Prediction of Methyl Salicylate Effects on Pomegranate Fruit Quality and Chilling Injuries using Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System and Artificial Neural Network

Adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) and genetic algorithm–artificial neural network (GA-ANN) were investigated for predicting methyl salicylate (MeSA) effects on chilling injuries and quality changes of pomegranate fruits during storage. Fruits were treated with MeSA at three concentrations(0, 0.01 and 0.1 mM) and stored under chilling temperature for 84 days. ANFIS and GA-ANN models ...

The effects of pre-chill and temperature on seed dormancy, growth and establishment indices of Smyrniopsis aucheri Boiss

Smyrniopsis aucheri BOISS is an herbaceous species of Apiaceae family which seed germination is difficult. Therefore, to restore the natural habitats of this plant, it is necessary to provide information about the length and the factors that affecting seed dormancy of this plant. In order to study effect of the duration of chilling and temperature on seed dormancy and seedling establishment of ...

Suppression Subtractive Hybridization Analysis of Genes Regulated by Application of Exogenous Abscisic Acid in Pepper Plant (Capsicum annuum L.) Leaves under Chilling Stress

Low temperature is one of the major factors limiting pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) production during winter and early spring in non-tropical regions. Application of exogenous abscisic acid (ABA) effectively alleviates the symptoms of chilling injury, such as wilting and formation of necrotic lesions on pepper leaves; however, the underlying molecular mechanism is not understood. The aim of this s...

Short Term Effect of Salt Shock on Ethylene and Polyamines Depends on Plant Salt Sensitivity

In the present manuscript the short term effect (3-24 h) of a saline shock (NaCl 100 mM) on fresh weight, water content, respiration rate, ethylene production and Na+, Cl-, ACC and polyamine concentration was studied in four plant species with different salt sensitivity, pepper, lettuce, spinach, and beetroot. Higher reduction in fresh weight and water content as a consequence of saline shock w...
